MEET LAURA

"I am currently studying at university to qualify as a Registered Veterinary Nurse specialising in exotics and zoology. At home, I am a mum of a 9-year-old, 3 dogs, and 2 geckos, with 2 bearded dragons on the way!
I have always been an avid animal lover. One of my earliest memories is riding on the back of a tractor while on a family holiday on a working dairy farm in Wales. The farmer would collect me on his way to milk his dairy cows, and the smell of a warm cow takes me back there every time.
Although I qualified as a Registered Adult Nurse in 2003, I have always had a dream of working with animals, and I have been lucky enough to continue working with a variety of animals over the years.
Before my nurse training, I worked as a dog groomer. I also ran my own business for a short time, providing grooming, walking, training, and boarding services. I had the privilege of living in New Zealand for 10 years, where I owned cows, sheep, chickens, dogs, quails, guinea pigs, and fish! On returning from New Zealand in 2019, I worked as a volunteer for a children’s charity, looking after the horses, pigs, peacocks, rare breed chickens, and golden pheasants."
