"Hello, I’m Laura.
I have loved animals my whole life having grown up with a range dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs from an early age. As a child I used to spend much of my holidays horse riding and I have fond memories of family trips to Wales where we stayed on a working farm (I used to get a tractor ride with the farmer to help milk the cows).
I have previously worked as dog groomer before completing my nursing studies in 2003. As a registered nurse my role took me to New Zealand where I lived and worked for 9 years. Whilst there I fulfilled my dream of owning a ‘lifestyle block’ and had the amazing experience of hand-rearing cows, sheep and chickens, as well as looking after my beautiful dog ‘Esme’ who travelled with me from the UK.
Returning from New Zealand with my son at the end of 2018 I continued with my nursing career but my heart still yearned for my animals. I started volunteering for a local children’s charity, helping to look after their pigs, chickens, peacocks and horses in my spare time.
Early in 2021 I decided to take the plunge (encouraged by my 5-year old) and leave nursing to pursue my ultimate dream of working with animals full time. I absolutely love having such an amazing role where I can combine my love of animals with my love of the outdoors.
In my spare time I can be found exploring outdoors with my son and sassy sausage dog ‘Florence’, paddleboarding or brushing up on my grooming skills."
